So, we are in the seventh week of this year and I am happy to say that I am right on track for reading a book every week of 2023. My 2023 book goal is 52 books this year!
I love reading books and since establishing myself as a reader, I can’t get enough…
My focus this year is to really read books that grow – my ability to keep a positive mindset , deepen my Faith, and increase my knowledge of health, ketosis, and intermittent fasting.
Here are the ones I began my year with…
Book # 1 Power of One More by Ed Mylett

This was the first book I read this year. It is such a great book about stepping out and really going after the 1% better in everything you do. He explains about how if see your goal as going after the ‘one more’ you can greatly rise above those who settle for familiarity & comfort.
The one more concept has helped me go further toward excellence in my workouts, my daily habits, my goals, and just in being a 1% better person in how I approach & live each moment. He also taslk about how we will never get above our ‘standard’. Deciding on and knowing your standard will help you to avoid the failure mentality and to be able to embrace and see set backs as building blocks to your 1 % better.
His own experience and growth help to clarify the whole concept of living life with the mindset of ‘the power of one more’.

Book #2 – The Travelers Gift – Andy Andrews

The Traveler’s Gift is a fictional story about a man named David Ponder. It gives an account of a difficult period in his life where he felt defeated and that he was a failure at everything he had ever tried.
In this story as he was putting his life in danger he was graced with a chance, a miracle, where he traveled through time – past and future. He was then was presented with ‘gifts’ from those he encountered throughout his travels.
From George Washington to King Solomon, he is presented ideas, truths, and standards to live by each day. I really enjoyed this book and got some great declarations that I continue to speak each morning as I begin my day.

Book #3 Of My 2023 Book Goal – The Miracle Morning By Hal Elrod

I can’t say enough about this little book. The Miracle Morning is a outline that can really help anyone move toward their goals. We can do this simply by establishing an intentional morning routine. This book includes all the activities that the most successful people add into their morning. These are the activities that I have been doing for the last 10 + years. I know how powerful they can be.
If you want to really transform your days and start to move toward your goals and dreams, I highly recommend getting this book and learning how to create your own Miracle Morning!

Book #4 – The Last Arrow By Erwin McManus

There is a great lesson in this book about not settling in life. He retells the story of Jehoash in the Second Book Of Kings. Speaking of how Jehoash stopped striking the arrow in the dirt too soon after Elisha instructed him to do it. He stopped short and then never received all the promises of God.
He compares this part and other parts of scripture to our lives and how many of us quit before we receive our blessing. We stop just short of our breakthrough, realize our mission, or reach our potential.
It is a compelling book that makes you rethink the limits we place on ourselves. And how we should not look to save any of our ‘arrows’ but look to give our all.

Book #5 – Your Divine Fingerprint – By Keith Craft

We all know that we each have a unique fingerprint. That we are all made uniquely and fearfully by God. This book is a great reminder of that fact. We all have a distinct contribution and mission the only we can fulfill.
In this book the author speaks of how because of our uniqueness, we have an unstoppable force when we embrace and lean into it.
When we look for the ways in our lives, and the lives of others, where we can leave our divine fingerprint. We can change things in a way no one else could or is expected to.
It encourages each of us to lean into the servant leader we are called to and capable of becoming. The one we were created to be.

Book #6 Of My 2023 Book Goal – Atomic Habits By James Clear

What can I say about this book?! I am currently sharing this book on my FaceBook Lives.
All of our habits come from small activities we do over and over that cause our brain to automatically respond to certain cues.
This is the book that gave me the realization that I needed to see myself as a ‘reader’. That way I would be more apt to stick to the habit that would bring that belief into a reality. That’s exactly what happened. I am now a reader for real!
In this book James Clear walks you through how to identify the habit you don’t need and that doesn’t serve you. And how to put into place the habits that will absolutely serve you and help you to reach your goals.
He shows you how to simply & successfully build those good habits and how to break the ones you don’t need. Broken into tiny actionable chapters, this is the third time I have read this book. It is full of things you can do to establish habits that will improve your health, your relationships, your behavior, your finances, anywhere a habit can be applied this book can help!

Book #7 Fast Like A Girl

This is #7 and the book I am currently reading. I decided to pick it up after a couple of people I follow recommended it.
At first, I thought that the idea of intermittent fasting around a woman’s cycle was not really important. But, what I have discovered and learned from this book has changed my perspective on the way a woman should fast for health.
I knew our hormones can be regulated and healed by fasting, but I never realized how important working with estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone was so beneficial. The whole concept of working with and keeping our hormones in balance as we fast is very intriguing and interesting.
Dr. Mindy Pelz reminded me of the beauty, uniqueness, and the possibilities within the female body. I absolutely love this book and will most likely be doing a video about it.
It has definitely increased my knowledge of female health and intermittent fasting!

So, yes I know that I still have many more books to read to reach my 2023 book goal this year. I look forward to sharing them all with you in the months ahead. Also, if you have any recommendations for me, please leave them below. I have several books lined up, but I am always looking for more!
