An honest introduction…
My name is Joy – well actually it is Joyanna, but most of my family and friends call me Joy.
Life is definitely a journey and we are all on a unique one. Mine is unique to me & here within these pages, I will share my perspective.
Formally an LPN and Health & Diet Educator for Weight Loss, I have gained some experience. And where I have gotten most of my wisdom is when I became a mom at the age of 20 and have continually raised many children alongside my husband.
After years of trying to figure out life and how to live it intentionally, I’ve finally discovered 2 ingredients that are right for me. Two little habits that change my whole view on just about everything. What are they? Simply – prayer & black coffee 🙂
I am a 48-year-old wife, convert to Catholicism, a mother, and most importantly, a child of God. I have been married to the love of my life Rodney, for 21 years and we have a blended family of 10 children.
As for me, I brought 2 children to our Marriage Covenant & my husband brought 1. Being open to life we have had 7 more children together! God has blessed us in many ways. And with those blessings, you can imagine that we have experienced and hopefully learned a lot!
(Also, being a grandmother to 6 kiddos is now a rewarding season that I am experiencing too! )
As I mentioned above, I am a convert to the Catholic Church. I was brought up Pentecost and am blessed to have had that faithful foundation. My husband, after 7 years of formation, is now an Ordained Catholic Deacon.
Our journey, my faith, and my conversion are the biggest contributors to the person I have become.
I intend to share my love for the Catholic Church, my journey, my insights and why I think that faith, health & fitness are all important for a happy, joyful and healthy daily life.
My daily life is focused on how I can live a life pleasing to my Lord and to journey and grow in the direction he would choose for me. With all of the hats, I have to wear in my life, I need to keep myself focused on who I am and why I am here.
Prayer and a relationship with Jesus is the beginning and root of all of my days. It helps me to always move toward the best version of who I need to be.
Find Your Passion & Discover Your Purpose
One statement I’ve heard before is “find your passion and you will discover your purpose”. My passions are my Catholic Faith, my family, and my health. So, here within these pages, you will see aspects of all of these.
Recently at my appointment for a yearly physical, my doctor inquired about my health and apparent weight loss. Knowing my state in life & hearing what I had to share about how I keep myself so healthy and mentally sharp, she encouraged me to write a book so that she could share with her patients.
She wanted them to see that it was possible to be in your 40’s, busy, and still be able to implement simple healthy habits and start to live in an intentional way and with purpose.
I had never thought that I would have something worth sharing, but with more encouragement from my family, I began. I am hoping to help even one person realize that taking little steps and learning little by little you can regain your health and have a side effect of weight loss.
One aspect of my weight loss journey is that I found so much helpful and free information in books, on blogs, social media & Youtube. It has taken me a long time to sift through the different information. But, I want to share the things I find most interesting and most helpful. I follow many different Keto and Intermittent Fasting Doctors and experts & I want to share what I have learned so that perhaps I can help you!
As excited as I was to get started writing about my health journey, I realized that it was unfair to focus solely on this one aspect of my life when I have so much more to say on other subjects dear to my heart.
So, I will be sharing some of my journey in Faith, marriage and family lessons learned, as well as my positive health habits- all of which are intertwined and deserving of my attention, and I hope yours as well!
There is much I do not know, but what I do know comes from a life lived. I hope to let you in on my own unique perspective, experiences, triumphs, wisdom, failures, and struggles that I have tried to learn from.

The subjects that are most important to me will dominate the subject matter of this blog. Subjects like my Spiritual growth & conversion, marriage, diet & weight loss, parenting, health, natural family planning…and the list goes on. But, living a healthy low carb and an intermittent fasting lifestyle will be high-lighted regularly!
That being said, I have really a lot to say about many subjects, so who knows where this will go 😉
