When I first decided that I wanted to begin intermittent fasting I really had nowhere to go. I live in a rural area and no one I knew was talking about it or seemed interested. So, I started to do my own in depth research.
Watching many hours of youtube videos and listening to 100’s of podcasts I can say that I have learned so much. Yes, they all had great detailed information and I learned a lot of different approaches to living this way of life.
But, when you are just beginning and trying to decide what approach is best for you it is good to have a resource to lay a simple foundation. A place to begin.
I am a member of many different health groups on Facebook. So, while looking at a group post one day I read someone suggest a book that would give you the basics on how to begin intermittent fasting. I had already started but I was interested in this new resource.
Quite quickly I read this book in one sitting. Excited about the way it was all explained to me.
What I discovered ~ Delay Don’t Deny
These simple words describe the basis of this book. You don’t have to say no to a certain food forever. Just for a time – by delaying you can take control of your eating.
The book recommended was Delay, Don’t Deny: Living an Intermittent Fasting Lifestyle. By Gin Stephens. So, I read the reviews and decided to purchase it. I am so happy I did!
- In this book Gin goes into the importance of keeping insulin low during the fasting period.
- What an eating window is and how to chose one right for you.
- Should you count calories or not.
- Is weighing daily a good thing?
- Clean fasting
- and so much more!
I wanted an easy non threatening way to share it with my family. This book was the perfect addition to my arsenal. They could simply read the book and then we could talk. Perfect!
Digging into some of the science behind IF (intermittent fasting), but with simple, clear explanation. It breaks down the different hours you can fast and different approaches to the whole IF way of living.
It also emphasizes the importance of the ‘clean fast‘ which is what changed my whole fasting experience. This little detail is worth the price of the book and then some!
Gin Stephens lost over 80 pounds and maintained her weight loss for years with her intermittent fasting lifestyle. She teaches you just how she did it in this book.
Gin has helped many people begin with Intermittent Fasting and go on to have great success of their own. She also has some awesome groups on Facebook all about this way of life. You can learn so much just reading the posts and comments. Plus, the people there seem very kind & Gin will even answer questions herself. She even does a weekly podcast where she interviews these people who have had such success.
Although, there are some minor things I disagree with, I still would recommend this book to anyone looking to begin looking at an intermittent fasting and weight loss solution.
For me, my fasting goes beyond just my health physically. It also enhances my Faith and spiritual life. But, this book is a great beginning into this way of life for anyone! I recommend it completely.
