If you read the Mass readings this morning, then you may have realized that once again God has a relevant and timely message for those of us who live in the world today. Paul reminds us to keep Heaven in mind.
It never ceases to amaze me how reading Scripture daily can lovingly communicate exactly what our Lord wants to say to us at this very moment in time. He breaks into our day so gently to remind us he is here.
Today, we are reminded that our true citizenship is in Heaven. That is where our lives and our minds should be pointing us to.
He also points out, that their minds, who are enemies of the Cross, are occupied with earthly things.
Ideally, Heaven and the Savior to come should be our first thought in the morning, and our last thought before we close our eyes every night. We should be thinking and preparing as we await.
Not wasting time worrying about earthly things…
Keeping Heaven In Mind ~ Harder Than Ever
But, as we are living today in the midst of a pandemic, lockdowns, an election mess, Church division, and the cloud of evil intent hanging over the world, our hearts and minds can sometimes become unfocused, cloudy, and utterly hopeless.
We can become disillusioned and literally distracted by earthy things. Distracted to the point of losing all hope.
Don’t allow satan to use his ‘smokescreen’ tactics of confusion, distraction, and fear. Jesus is still on the throne, and our citizenship is indeed in Heaven. We must move forward with Holy Intention and Hope.
How Do Keep A Clear Vision?
It really is simple, but sometimes not so easy. The old reliables of prayer, fasting, daily Scripture reading, and looking out for those who are struggling.
Along with that, continuing to go on living each day taking care to do what our state in life requires of us right now at this moment – and do that with excellence and love.
We are here, right now living with a beautiful promise of Heaven and the Savior to come.
We absolutely need to keep focused and living our lives intentionally.
Intentionally, always with Heaven in mind.
May God Bless You,
