I listened to my hunger hormones, so I had 5 eggs and 3 slices of bacon for my breakfast this morning 😋
It was early for me to eat – I usually wait until 11:00 am or later before I eat breakfast.
But, this morning I was hungry and decided to surrender and listen to my hunger.
Eggs, butter, and bacon have the perfect combo of healthy fat and protein to keep my body fueled for the day.
Or until I eat again this evening.
Learning to Listen to hunger signals and by learning to trust them has been a long time coming.
After years of trying many different ways to lose weight, I had completely crashed my hunger and satiety hormones so that I could not count on any ‘signals’ for being hungry or being full.
But, now with a new way of looking at what I eat and how I am supposed to use nutrition to heal my body, the side effect is natural weight loss. Now, what I choose to eat is different and less stressful for sure.
Keto & Zero-Carb Have Changed My Eating
Keto, and now zero-carb have healed those natural hormone signals from the damage caused by years of dieting so that I can now trust what my body is trying to tell me. When my stomach starts to growl, I know for sure that I am indeed hungry because I have healed my hormones and I now eat nutrient-dense foods.
These foods have no extra things to clog or confuse my metabolism. So when I feel hunger, I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that my body needs food.
And, I know for sure when and what I need to eat.
Our bodies are so wonderfully and awesomely made. God knew what he was doing and we should definitely be able to trust them. But, in order for them to function properly, we need to intentionally take care of them.
This means we need to dump the extensive carbs, processed oils, and sugar, and feed it with the right nutrition. This gives our body what it needs and then allows time for our hormones to heal.
It’s our hormones that tell us when we need to eat or when we are full. When we eat a diet full of carbohydrates and sugars for many years, it messes with our hunger hormones and they decrease in their ability to notify us of true hunger or even being full.
The hunger hormone is Ghrelin – it alerts the brain that you are hungry. The other is Leptin which signals when we are full. By overeating carbs and other unhealthy foods, these hormones get confused. Mostly due to a constant rise in another hormone – insulin.
